I had read about Guy Goma being mistaken for Guy Kewney in the paper, but that hadn't prepared me for seeing it live. It's funny now, but its appeal will probably die as it is shown ad infinitum on dozen's of '100 greatest TV gaffs' compilation shows.

I've been biting my tounge on this one, but if anyone feels like taking a flogging from the film guys, someone could always start another one of the infamous "death of film" threads by talking about the merits of the Silicon Imaging SI-1920HDVR with its 10 f-stop dynamic range or the RED camera which boasts 4K resolution...

I'm thinking I might make my next production HD(V) cos I can't afford the film workflow, but I already have a Mac capable of editing HD (though those Core Duos look sweet for processing) and have just "upgraded" to the FCE-HD universal binary.

Personally I'm happy with progressive-scan and some colour grading. I'll let faux film be the domain of the faux filmmakers.

I'll believe Red's 4K when I see it.

I'm still a film guy. Proper HD is often pricier than super 16 and doesn't even look as nice.*

HDV is ok, but is an annoying format to work with in post I find. And I agree with Miker - all this trying to make video look like film has got to stop!

Red still doesn't have a camera....

Miker, Have you tried the HVX200?? I am blown away by it. It looks great. No it's not film but it looks better than HDV.

The only issue is that you need to dump it down to edit it since even if you have FCP HD you might not have the bandwidth to handle it.
